I am a dedicated and experienced IT professional currently seeking employment in the area of network administration and/or database administration/support. For most of the past 2 years I was employed at Angiotech Pharmaceuticals where I enhanced and extended the skills I acquired during my post-graduate work at The Professional Institute of Applied Technology in St. John's, NF. A brief list of my most common responsibilties at Angiotech included providing front line technical support to employees at all levels within Angiotech, was involved in the day to day maintainence and operations of the company's data and telecom networks, administered email, web, file, and database servers, and built and installed all workstations and some servers. As the Information Systems team Angiotech is quite small we were all required to be able to quickly master new software, often for very specific scientific applications. While some may argue, with good cause, that an IS professional is only as good as his/her technical skill set I prefer to think that personality and other so called "soft" skills are just as important as technical abilities and, in some cases perhaps even more so. In this area, I am well served by both my innate personality as well as my past work experience. I spent six years during high school and university working in the customer service industry and the last 2 years working in a technical support role for dynamic pharmaceutical company. Part of that role required me to utilize my soft skills in interactions with co-workers at all levels in the company. In addition to my technical knowledge and soft skill set, I also possess a strong work ethic and attention to detail. This, combined with a logical and analytical approach stemming from my Bachelor of Science, allows me to work quickly and efficiently towards providing the required product. My problem solving skills are first rate and over the years I have acquired excellent written and verbal communication skills.
